We wanted to do justice to the iconic Polar Express (Pere Marquette 1225) locomotive, and make it run beautifully while showcasing details of the original — in 6-wide to fit perfectly with the official LEGO trains.

This is a true 2-8-4 Berkshire-class steam locomotive that's engineered to take LEGO R40 curves smoothly, a remarkable feat at this scale.

This model is motorized with LEGO PoweredUp, and features a meticulously-engineered 2-8-4 wheelbase coupled to a Technic geartrain, with working piston rods. The tender also features triple-axle bogies with sliding middle axles.

This model captures the proportions and key features of the real locomotive with detail and accuracy, and features some interesting and fun building techniques. The distinctive superheater tubes, as well as the front footboard details, smoke stack and sand box, and curved rear cab are all faithfully reproduced.

This model is the result of almost 300 hours of design and engineering: 150 hours of model and sticker design, 70 hours of building-process design, 50 hours of QA.
